HQ Sounds Support Application Notes

All you need to know to have the most real sounds available in your railroad

Basic Information

1. ESD--which means Electro Static Discharge. This is what occurs when you walk across a carpet and touch a piece of metal and get a shock. Before touching the HQ sound board You should touch something that is grounded to discharge static electricity you may be storing. This is important to do with any bare electronic circuit boards you handle.

2. The HQ circuit boards can be installed in buildings, under the layout, and onboard trains where room permits. You can use velcro, double back tape, or just laying the board down in a building.
Caution, do not lay board down on any metallic surfaces or permanent damage will result.

3. If used outdoors, it will be necessary to weather proof the circuit board, speaker, and any other electronics to protect them from the elements.

4. For increased sound quality, speakers should be baffled. This can be done as easy as by putting it in a in a small cardboard with holes in the front. You can also use cardboard or PVC tubes, or if it is in a building, that will act as a baffle.

5. Specifications: Power requirements. 9 to 18 volts DC or 4 to 18 volts AC. Current Drain is approx. 10ma when not playing, and 60ma when playing.
